For those fascinated by the Crusader Legends and Lore, a second group of castles beckons. The scenic King's Highway is a historic road stretching from Amman to Aqaba and littered with the remains of Crusaders forts and outposts. The most important among these are Karak and Shobak.

The authentic hill top fortress of Karak and Shobak, are fascinating examples of architectural and military traditions of the time. Their galleries, towers, chapels and ramparts still echo with the resolve of the Crusaders who built them almost a thousand years ago.

While Karak is a dark maze of stone vaulted halls and passageway, Shobak perches on the side of a mountain with a grand sweeps of fruit trees below.
